Blog: Fake CNN emails to claim U.S. began bombing the Syria

We are currently a spam run which involves a (false) CNN report saying that the United States began bombing the Syria.

By clicking on the shortcut link will lead to an exploit Kit that targets older and vulnerable Adobe Reader and Java versions. The favor of the attackers using the feat of Java on the feat of drive, as Java exploits are generally more reliable.

The feat will download a Downloader Trojan on the system, which will eventually download various other malware.

We have seen these players use various methods for patients click on links in emails, including fake Facebook and emails from PayPal. They also tend to use different URL shortening services.

It is not surprising to see the cyber-criminals to jump on the news. If the United States decided for a military action against the Syria, we can expect much more malicious e-mails on the topic of the Syria.
